Tor cannot detect underlying network #134

I am having problems connecting to the Tor network.

"Tor cannot detect underlying network".

I suspect this is because I'm trying to use cwtch on an existing Tor network (Whonix/Tails/Etc).

Cwtch should be able to "detect the underlying network" and discover there's an existing Tor network. I assume cwtch could reuse the existing Tor network.

Thank you.

At the moment, Cwtch requires a way to authenticate to an existing Tor process. The only way we expose in the UI at the moment is by Cwtch launching a new Tor process with a custom configuration - this requires tor to be in the PATH of cwtch. Doing so allows us to enforce configs like OnionTrafficOnly

In the future we do want to enable a way to use an existing system Tor, but that isn't currently enabled.

Cwtch as of 1.6+ now supports customized tor configurations. There are specific issues in certain distributions that require clarification on the expected behaviour of applications in those distributions (e.g. #324) but the major work indicated by this issue is now complete.
