When I opened Cwtch for the second time, no accounts appeared, I was worried, what happened?

Feature request, makes cwtch default to its configuration directory ~/.cwtch/profiles for example, when opening the file manager. Or a listing of profiles before importing.

I understand the profiles directory have a different name than their onion hostname, so it is still difficult ot locate yourself when dealing with multiple profiles. But defaulting to the configuration profile directory is better for usability than no defaults.

My first guess would be that the profile is encrypted (created with a password)? Encrypted profiles don't show up in the application by on start up (they can't because Cwtch doesn't know about them until the correct password is entered to unlock them)

You can unlock an encrypted profile by following the instructions here: https://docs.cwtch.im/docs/profiles/unlock-profile

Importing should be reserved for profiles outside of the profile directory (if they were in the profile directory then they should already be imported). As above, Cwtch does not know about profiles until the correct password is given and it can decrypt the necessary databases.

We have a task in this release to make this a bit more clear on the profile screen, porbbaly by adding an additional row to the profile manager that references this behaviour directly.

Yes, correct.

Got it.

Would be very pleased with this, thank you.

We have a task in this release to make this a bit more clear on the profile screen, porbbaly by adding an additional row to the profile manager that references this behaviour directly.

This fix is now in nightly. Will ship in 1.10.
