Can replicate in release mode but not in debug mode, which leads me to believe this is either a native flutter issue, or there is a unreported-error being triggered in release mode.

Tried again with 3.3.1 and can no longer replicate this. Flutter 3.3.0 added a bunch of text selection theme fixes. Also possible that small fixes over the last month might have helped..
