can hang app:

if there is an out going connection attempt, engine's loop shutting down ephemeral engines will block trying to get the lock to shut the out going token service connection down, blocking hte UI as well, and leaving the engine also semi working?

Also need to investigate if peerstatuschange -> offline messages get issued when connections are killed this way
